After Jcrewfanatic alerted me that the sweater is in fact available in the GSP store, I decided to visit them again and try it on.
Size Medium |
The fit is nice and I like that the sweater is not very long. This makes it more versatile for wearing with skirts and pants. The workmanship seems fine and the crystals are securely attached. The neckline buttons in the back with cute little button.
The wool is slightly scratchy. I am mildly sensitive to wool and I would be OK with it, but if you are very sensitive it is not for you. Of course you can always wear a t-shirt underneath but on a bare skin it is definitely not as soft as cashmere or even fine merino so keep that in mind

I like this sweater and I am definitely considering it. In fact, I brought it home to try it with some of the clothes already in my closet and think about it. I quickly checked it with my camel and gray trousers, pencil skirts in black, bright dahlia and camel and it seems perfect. It may be a keeper but I am known to change my mind so we shall see.

I grabbed those pink capris to try on with the sweater. I did not even look at the price or took pictures of the tags because I was convinced they are already on the website and I will check it later, but now I cannot find them. I think the color might be the same as Romance Pink in the No. 2 pencil in herringbone There is also a matching blazer that I saw on the display. I think they are cafe capris and they fit TTS, like other versions of cafe capris. They are fully lined and rather substantial. I am not sure I could get much use out if them with the capri length and thick wool combination but I liked the color a lot. It is a very pretty shade of light pink herringbone.

I like the sweater apart from the collar, I just find crystals too much and they make me hear Rhinestone Cowboy playing.
ReplyDeleteMy order just came, phew the pale turquoise cords will be heading back, which kills me as it will cost me $55 but they are way too bright. I'll post pic on Wednesday.
This sweater is so mine!!! I really want to charge-send it from your store but keep telling myself that is ridiculous. I couldn't even wear it for several months.
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is so pretty. Alpaca is very warm however. I love your skirt in the first picture, and your choice of pink pants for the second. And, the Valentina's with the pink pants look so nice, I may try them again. Enjoy your vacation!
ReplyDeleteThese look nice on you, but I am not sure about the peter pan style of collar. I could not pull it off, but I know it's going to look great on others. I love the colors in this sweater and the herringbone. I think that one of the sweaters this fall has a detachable crystal collar, but I guess it's not this one. I love the pink capris and I'd like to try those on some time. I am not sure how to style them, though, or what colors to put with them. Thank you so much for setting up the reviews, these are fun to see!
ReplyDeleteIs the pencil skirt one of the new arrivals or from your closet? It is super cute!! I like the sweater but personally tend to stay away from peter pan collars because they always make me look childish haha. I actually just went to J. Crew yesterday and there was still lots of sale stuff (yay) but no new arrivals yet. Hope you are having fun on your trip!

Thank you for the review of the jeweled collar sweater! The itch factor is a deal breaker for me, so I'll take this sweater off of my wish list. Now, however, I'm really digging that tone-on-tone polka-dot pencil skirt that you've got on...that could get a lot of mileage at the office. Drat.
ReplyDeleteI truly love this sweater, but as soon as I saw 50% alpaca, I knew it was not for me, sadly! Alpaca, like angora, makes me itch like mad! I feel like scratching right now, thinking about it!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - it is gorgeous though!!!!
Thanks for the review. The itch factor eliminates it from any wish list it may have been on for me - which is very helpful. The pink capris are adorable - but challenging in a heavy weight lined fabric. Are they 1/2 of the suit shown in the Collection Look Book? I remember wanting a closer look at the blazer-which I thought could be fun in the winter. Hope you're having a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! This sweater was one of the items that caught my eye. I actually pre-ordered it and now after seeing it on you, I'm even more excited!
ReplyDeleteI love everything on you. The sweater different from what we have. Thanks ... it's on my list now.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am preordering this as we speak and your photos confirmed what size to get! Love love love :)
ReplyDeletethe sweater is gorgeous. it has a vintage look to it. love those pink capris but i hear you as far as the length and material. i suppose that in the right climate they'd be perfect.
ReplyDeletei just got a pair of the cutest pink capris from the gw. i cannot believe my luck! they are made by french connection and made in the usa and fit perfectly. i got really lucky.
Thanks for the review. The rhinestone collar & the high alpaca content make this a no-go for me. I like the herringbone pattern but I wish the sleeves would be gray instead of camel. It looks sleeveless from afar. Looking forward to seeing the liberty shirts on you.
ReplyDeletehmmm, it looks super cute in the online photo, but doesn't seem all that great IRL - very trendy. Ah well. If I could find a cute, cheaper F21 rhinstone collar necklace or blouse, I'd be good with that!

bless you for seeking out these new pieces for us! I really like this sweater- something about the pattern with the sequins...sigh...I doubt I would ever find this baby on sale though!
ReplyDeleteI like the sweater. But I'm wondering if this jeweled collar is considered a classic design which will last for years? It's very pretty I must agree! :) I love the pink capris!!!
ReplyDeleteHi guys,
ReplyDeleteI am having fun so far and the weather is great. Thank you for thinking about me. I agree that the collar of the sweater may be questionable for some and the itch factor is definitely something to consider.
The skirt I am wearing is jcrew from 2009. It was called jaquard dot I believe. I took size 2 in this one in case you spot it on eBay or jca exchange.
The capris do come with a matching blazer and I do have a display picture of it that I think I put in my Thursday or Friday post.
Ok, my family wants me to leave this coffee shop and head to the beach .
I am in Ogunquin Maine thanks to WMM recommendations. She was totally right it , it IS a great place to visit!
