Slubby Seamed tee |
Now, I am probably interested in some items that may be dismissed by many Anthro shoppers. I usually do not like their dresses and more quirky offerings. But I don't mind a little twist in my basics.
I loved the look of this tee on the website. They did not have the dark purple in the store I visited, so I tried on Raspberry.
Size Small |
The gray looked even more sloppy. I think it would definitely benefit from statement necklace, like they have it styled on the website. I had a delicate gold necklace on and just did not work for me. I liked the shape, the longer sleeves and the two-tone effect.
Tiered Swing Sweater |
Once I warmed up to burgundy (and it was a process for me), I cannot get enough of it. So when I spotted this top in store, I had to try it on. I had high hopes that it would be perfect with jeans.
Alas, it was not not to be. It looked ridiculously high waisted, shrunken and babydoll bottomed. Like if I borrowed it from my 9yo. And it is NOT a cute look for me. Pass.
I saved the best for the last.
Sunday Draped Sweater |
Size Small |
I think you could belt it |
It has two snaps at the neck |
I think it looks good three ways, open, belted with shawl-like collar and buttoned up. It is a blend of cotton/acrylic so not the greatest mix but it did not look like it would pill like crazy. The price is also reasonable, especially with some discount, like Saturday's 20% off.
I did get the Pilcro Stet Slim Bootcut Cords with the 20% off. I know they are still expensive but they are the best fitting pair of corduroys I tried. This is of course specific to my body type; they fit me very similarly to the Pilcro jeans I also bought. I love the slim flare, the color and the higher (but not too high rise). I decided to get them now and wear them for the whole season. I am OK if they eventually go on sale for much less that I paid. I also love the other color. It is called navy but it is bright, almost jewel tone, not dull and flat like some corduroys in navy can be. I am tempted to them as well. They fit TTS to big, I took 27, which is my smaller size in denim.

That's all folks!
Do you like any of Anthropologie recent offerings?
Please share, it would be no fun without you!!!
Look at the length of your legs! I've never liked burgundy, so won't be adding it in this year, isn't it funny how some colours are just a "no' for us?
ReplyDeleteTabitha-
DeleteFunny, burgundy is always a color I think looks good on other people, never for me!
I think it is the heels that I am wearing, I am usually in below 3" but the are almost 4".
DeleteI though burgundy was nor for me but I got converted, so maybe you should try it. Actually, I think it would be stunning on you with your dark mane, especially when worn with blue.
OMG those cords are so flattering, and I love the color. I like colored cords, but don't love colored denim- I don't know why. I like your hair cut too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! These are the cords I was telling you about, at least I got them with $20 off... And yes, I needed a haircut badly, my hair grows like weeds, I cannot keep up with it :)
DeleteYour post makes me want to try it all on (with maybe the exception of the swing/babydoll top). These are fantastic. The Pilcro cords look great on you. Same as KnitYarns, I like colored cords but not colored denim on me. I wonder why that is? And interestingly, I own a pair of JC Matchstick cords in burgundy! (not my usual favorite) And, I like them! I never wear them though because I can't figure out what to wear with burgundy pants. Maybe I need this Sunday Draped Sweater to wear with them :) Thanks for the reviews.
ReplyDeleteYes, I would not wear burgundy jeans or even woolpants but cords are fine, especially if they're not brigths. So many things go with burgundy, I am actually planning a post about it...
DeleteYou look amazing in those cords!
ReplyDeleteThank you cate!
DeleteYou look great in those cords! I am wearing the first tee you reviewed. It was expensive for sure, but exactly what I've been looking for as I need cute layering basics. I bought black and would have picked up another color but I wanted to see how the it washed up, etc. It has been a great buy for me - I wear it all the time!
ReplyDeleteThose tees are nice, I agree. I will definitely consider this one if it goes on sale. Actually, I have a left over gift card. Hmmm...
DeleteTops like that are why I've almost completely stopped shopping for clothes at Anthro. All that floppy, drapey, foldy fabric just gets in my way. You look awesome in the burgundy cords!
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean Whitney, but the floppiness is great for covering up my own floppy bits, lol.
DeleteThanks for the reviews. I bought the uneven hem t-shirts from Anthro that you reviewed earlier and I really like them. Never would have thought to try it on but was intrigued by your review.
ReplyDeleteI also glad if my reviews were helpful, thank you for letting me know!
DeleteLove the cords and I think that's a good price for everyday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marsha! You are right, it is ok to pay a little more for something that I can wear a lot.
DeleteI think you look great in these AJC! So flattering!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteI recently ordered a blue sweater dress from Anthro because they had petites - and though I adore the dress, unfortunately the petite was way too petite for me.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the tiered swing sweater - the model shot makes it look lovely!
It is funny how retailers sometimes cannot get it right, some are making everything too big and some are really small. I would definitely think petite should work for you, Lisa.
DeleteI love the burgundy cords on you and am SO tempted to get them! But like cate, I am unsure of what to wear with them. How do you plan to style them?
ReplyDeleteI love the title of your post--very appropriate. I would wear some of these pieces (e.g. the Sunday sweater) but find most of the tops too simple for my style, as I shop primarily Anthro for the quirky dresses and prints. I also shop JC for bright colors and basic layers--I wonder what the reverse, "J.Crew for the Anthropologie shopper," would look like!
