Accordion top

Accordion pleat top
Accordion pleat top

I almost forgot that I tried this top on. I actually quite liked it on a hanger and I thought this had a potential.

SIze Medium
It felt really nice and soft, waist was in a right place and I liked the shape of it. It looks too high waisted on a model and some other bloggers mentioned it but it was fine on me, maybe because of bigger size.  I thought it would work nicely with any capri pants. The price is way to high of course, I think you can get something similar for about $30 at other retailers but we all know the initial price is just a starting point at J.Crew...

Unfortunately, the pleats will not lay flat no matter what I did and it just looked messy. In fact, it does not look so bad in the pictures but it was a total pass IRL, not even on deep sale.

See it also on FFM here and on Cate here.

That's all folks!

Have you tried the Accordion Top

I am working on a post with  some vacation reflections and I am planning to stop by the concept store where they have already received some new arrivals!

KnitYarns have already stopped by today and you can read her report HERE.

  1. I think it's super pretty, especially against the pink, it reminds me of that outfit which Kate Moss wore last year of pale pink capris and black shirt.

    1. I think you would have been disappointed. It looked worse IRL and it drew attention to the middle of the chest.

You will be so proud of my fall shopping list - very pared down!

I like the accordian pleat top, but have seen so many mixed reviews on this one...

    1. Thank you Dani! I am curious what would make it to online debut and of course about any new items, no matter how we complain I still anticipate new rollouts with excitement.

  4. Welcome back! I love that shirt with pink. Oh how I wish the Valentinas fit me, they always look so elegant. I agree the top is a "miss". I am running over now to look again, but will wait for your reviews and pics!

    1. Will post display pictures tomorrow but I did try a few things. This is a smaller rollout than last one and I think not that many concept store only items.

  7. Welcome home -- it sounds like your trip could not have been better! Agree with Tabitha that in the photos, this outfit is awfully pretty on you -- feminine and put together. Sorry to hear (and thank you for the review) that it was neither in person...

    1. My trip was great, I will have a post about it around end of the week. It is too bad about the top as it had a potential and it seem many people were hoping it would work for them :(

  9. Glad to see you are back. I hope you had a fabulous vacation and I can't wait to see your photos.

The accordion pleat top is somewhat similar to the fineline cami from last year, which I bought and love. It didn't have a peplum though, the fit was just easy and straight.

    1. Thank you xoxo!

I think the fineline cami was executed much better, this top just stops at the concept level :(

  10. I agree, I really wanted to love the accordion top. Perhaps if it was silk or wool crepe it would have held up better. But because it's a knit there isn't much structure. But I have styled it on a few clients with the wool double-serge pencil skirt in warm jade with the turn lock Laura belt. Try it! You might feel a little different about the blouse. :-) Jendayi In Progress

    1. Hi Jendayi, thanks for stopping by!
My sentiments exactly, wrong fabric choice or it could have been a winner. I am a little OCD about things like pleats staying put, so it really bothers me. And what will happen in the wash? Oh wait, it is dry clean. Who wants to dry clean knit top?

    2. True, I'm not a fan of dry cleaning. I prefer to do my laundering at home. Hopefully we'll have a suitable alternative in the next collection. But in the meantime, I really like the wool crepe color block top. :-) I hope you get to try it on.
