When it finally debuted on the website, I was on vacation and I wasn't following Madewell new arrivals but when I saw a review on life as a cat, I called the store and asked them to put a Medium on hold for me.

The fabric (100% silk) is rather thin but not see through or clingy. Peplum is subtle and lays flat but creates nice waist definition. I never though a peplum top would work for me. In fact, when I tried J.Crew peplum blouse few months agi, I thought it was laughable.
I was always afraid that a peplum would create a bulk in the midsection but I think it actually works here and it is rather slimming. Maybe it is because the proportions are better, the fabric is thinner and there is not too much gathering at the seam.
I had slight problem with sleeves being a bit puffy and too wide at the elbow. It does not look like that in the pictures, but I thought they would look better if they were a little bit narrower. If I'd purchased this top, I think I would alter the sleeves (which should be super easy).
with skinny skinny highriser in black |
Peplum flower topin coral pink was definitely NOT on my list and I can probably substitute it with something already in my closet, but if I catch it on sale I will definitely be tempted to buy it. I loved it with skinny jeans but I can see it with capris or a pencil skirt. In addition, I liked the sleeve length because it is harder to come by than a sleeveless shell or long sleeved blouse.
Flowersketch Peplum Top is currently sold out on the website but seems to be still available in stores. It is priced at $108.

That's all folks!
Are you attracted to the peplum tops this season?
How do you like Madewell Flowersketch Peplum Top?
Please share, it would be no fun without you!!!
I really like this on you! I was going to ask if this fit TTS, and you have answered my question - in relation to the plain ivory version of this. I think I will order the ivory and give it a shot! I really like the floral, but I think the ivory will be very versatile and I hope to find my dressy white blouse in Europe (or will wait till later fall!)
ReplyDeleteThanks AJC!
Have a great trip WMM! I will wait for your reports from Paris. Enjoy yourself!
DeleteI wish they weren't in fashion because I've been wearing them for years, they work so well for my shape, This is a pretty print I'm always drawn to red/white variations.
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater you are wearing in your last post, it is truly stunning on you!

I never thought I'd like it but I do.
DeleteI think the peplum is lovely and flattering. Those skinny jeans with the Valentinas look terrific.
ReplyDeleteThanks Knityarns, I am on a quest for a perfect pair of black jeans. These were not bad but I am still looking.
DeleteThanks for the link, ajc! I love the waist definition too, and wish J. Crew would create more tops with waist definition.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a fan of peplum, but this one is subtle and fits you nicely. I am not sure about the print, though. It's the kind I am drawn to, but then I never wear it. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like florals then it is not for you but it is not loud at all irl
Deletethat is really pretty on you. love the color too. it is slimming indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOf course it's already sold out online - because I love it and have NO stores close by. I love the cut and the print, and the fact that I could wear it without too many layers! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIf you call the store they can do a charge send to you.
DeleteThis is very off topic, but I'd love to know where your leopard print shoes are from! They are in several of your photos and they look fabulous with pretty much everything...I love the style! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThey are jcrew Valentinas in patent walnut. They still pop back with a great price and they indeed go with everything and I find them comfortable.
