Perfect shirt in chambray polka dot

Perfect shirt in chambray polka dot

I saw this shirt in my B&M few days ago, and since I am always on lookout for the perfect chambray shirt I had to try it. I grabbed a 6, which is my regular size in J.Crew perfect fit shirts and it fits beautifully.

Size 6

The buttons in front are perfectly placed and not gaping which is sometimes a problem for me, but they just fit, with not much room to spare. I am 34D. The fit in shoulders, arms, waist and hips is great. The length is perfect and the sleeves are long enough but not too long on me. I think this fits like other J.Crew perfect shirts but it seemed even slightly more defined. It fits me the same way in the chest as perfect linen shirt in size 4 but I think it is the linen shirt that runs big, not this one running small.

LOVE!!!
The fabric is quite substantial but it drapes well. Polka dots are very subtle and add some interest. The color is nice, medium dark chambray blue, slightly faded, it goes with everything. Can you tell that I love this shirt?
I think this may be The chambray button front I was looking for.

I tried it with white capris, orange pencil skirt and fuller flower print skirt and it looked great with everything. It can be worn tucked in as it does not create bulk around the waist, but it looks sharp when untucked, as well. You can wear it now with rolled up sleeves, but of course it will work great in colder months.

I think this one is a winner . Hopefully, we will get some full price promo, so we can get a discount. Today, there is 10% rebate from Shop at Home.  I think you can also get 10% off from signing up for J.Crew emails.

That's all for today folks!

I will have more reviews, links to previously reviewed items and my picks from the new arrivals up tomorrow, so please stop by.
Do you like the perfect shirt in chambray polka dot?

What caught your attentions in the newest rollout?

Please share, it would be no fun without you!!!

  1. Hooray for J.Crew - they created a winner! This is a great shirt, and it looks perfect on you :)

Madewell did a short-sleeve camp shirt in lightweight chambray with teeny navy polka-dots last year, and I wear it ALL the time.

  2. Hi ajc! I love that chambray shirt on you, I agree that it is The One.
A new roll-out day is always fun. Did you see the green Valentina's? I love them. I also like some of the jewelry.
I just sent so much stuff back to J Crew in the mail that I'm trying not to order for at least a month. Surely I can do that? ;) Of course I'm trying to stick to my Three Things as well, right now the green Valentina might make my list for fall.
Thanks for the review, hope you are well!

    1. Hi Dani, don't you love to find the perfect one? I am glad I did not settle on something else.
Yes I do love the new colors in Valentinas, I am glad that I hardly ever wear green so I think I can stay away, three things sounds so sensible but it is so hard with all the pretties, isn't it?

    2. Ina, funny you ask about it because I am wearing it today! With Porcelain paisley skirt so I will post pictures next week along with other ideas. I love this shirt, I tried returning it because I think it will drop in price eventually but I could not beat patting with it, it is a cornerstone of my summer blue color story.

  4. Oh I'm so excited about this shirt. I hope my b&m has them in when I go tomorrow.

Question about the fabric...you say it's substantial. Would you consider it thick? would it layer well? I have a shirt from LEC that is chambray with larger dots. It is pretty thick though and is not good for layering and is definitely not good in warmer weather. Trying to make sure that buying this one would not be overkill...need to justify that it is different enough :)

    1. AppGal, I don't think I would call the fabric thick or stiff. It is soft and it drapes well, I could easily tuck it in without bulk, it is not like a denim shirt. But comparing to some super thin shirts JC often sells ( and I love them) the fabric is 'substantial', in a good way. I think most B&Ms would carry it so hopefully you can try it. Please let us know how you likeitwjen you do.

    1. I always loved chambray button downs on others (like you!) but I couldn't find the one that would work for me, but I think this is the one. The shorts are also jcrew, summer Bermudas, I will have a review on Monday.

  9. I couldn't resist, I bought it too! I was prepared not to buy it, because I have a few denim shirts, but it's unlike anything else I have. It really is a great shirt.

  10. I don't like chambray. I don't like polka dots. And yet I bought this top for full price at the store today ($78 in store price). It will be great this summer with white bottoms like you've shown, as a cover up, with colored shorts. I tried it on under a tippi and loved that look too so that will be great for fall/winter. This shirt will get worn year round! Thank you for this post - without all of the glowing reviews I would have never tried it. And you are right, even with all of JC's missteps when they get it right they really knock it out of the park.
