More Fitting Room Reviews and 30% Sale Picks

I have been crazy busy with work recently but I finally have more fitting room reviews from my trip last week:
Summerweight
chino short
Summerweight chino short

Shorts size 6
Meh.

I like shorts in the summer and I like white. I don't like this particular length, I think this cuts off my legs and makes them look stumpy. Maybe if they were more tapered? I sized up to 6, like I usually do in white pants. They are summer weight which means a little bit see through, probably would not be a problem in darker colors. I still like the regular chino shorts better.

Size 6
Size 8
This is not online yet, so it is either in store only or yet-to-be-released. Thanks JustVisiting for helping me identify it! I loved the color of this popover. It looks even better IRL and I fond it very flattering. Other than that it is a regular J.Crew popover fit. I tried both 6 and 8 and they both fit but I preferred an 8 for a more slouchy fit. I liked the pockets. This would look great with white or stone/beige. I think it was $78 and all cotton.

Café trouser
in linen

shirt and trousers both size 6
shirt size 8, trousers in 6

These trousers were cheaper in store, I think they were $59 with additional 30% off. I liked the fit of them and the color is great. the only reason I did not get the is that I still cannot picture myself in colorful pants for some reason. But if you don't have a problem with it they are totally worth it, I loved them!

Antique Paisley Tank

I cannot fined it on the website, i am not sure if it is hiding or sold out.

Size Medium
Size Small
Well, in case it is sold out, you haven't missed much. This top is hot mess and completely unwearable, imo. It does not look so bad in the pictures but the armholes are too big and you absolutely cannot bend without exposing your entire bra. Maybe it can be used as a cover up?

Medium
Small
Too bad, because I liked the print and the concept, sort of peasant tank top, I thought it would be cute with denim or white shorts, but the execution is lacking. That is an understatement.

That's all folks!

What do you think?
Are you buying anything from latest 30% off sale?

Here are my picks:

Collection
hand-knotted pearl necklace
Collection hand-knotted pearl necklace
If you don't have this necklace, order it right away. The price it great and you must absolutely own a simple pearl necklace like this. I am tempted to order it even if I already have one.

I bought mine at $120 and it is worth every penny.

Collection
Valentina snakeskin pumps
Collection Valentina snakeskin pumps

Those Valentina pumps are still pricey of course but I recommend you try them now when they are not final sale. They are a thing of beauty. You will thank me at the time for Christmas/Holiday parties.

Scout chino
Scout chino
They are great basic, especially if your figure is similar to mine. They may go down in price even farther but if you want them in white I would buy them now so we wear them whole summer. Which is exactly what I did.

What would you recommend?

  1. I've found the 9" chino shorts do not look as good on me as the (Factory) Bermuda shorts. I think the Bermuda shorts are more tapered.

I love (but don't have) those red snakeskin Valentinas! I love (and have) the Scout chinos. I have them in several colors. They are a little narrow in the calf for me when I roll them, but they're a great basic.

I am also having trouble picturing myself in the colored pants trend. I just bought the Cafe Capris in Casablanca Blue. Those I may be okay with.

    1. In general I am not really found of shorts longer than 5 inches, but maybe I should try those factory Bermudas, thanks for the tip Cate!

  2. Maybe the unidentified popover is the Ink-dip popover item 42288 in vivid turquoise?

    1. That is so not fair Tabitha, I feel your pain.
Let me know if you ever want me to send you something ( red Valentina's?).

  4. That ink dip popover and its color looks fab on you. I'm kind of interested now.
I had no intentions on buying anything from the sale, but my store had a lone pair of the classic leather ballet flats in soft fuschia in my size. The color alone got me and I thought the price was reasonable. I love them!

  5. I love the ink-dip popovers from 2011 and I am tempted by the turquoise one after seeing it on you here. It looks so lovely on you in that rich color.

It's interesting, I always think we have a similar figure but the summerweight Bermudas fit much differently on me and I love them. I think they hit a bit higher on the leg (I'm 5'9") and sometimes I do flip the hem a couple of times to shorten them too, depending on how/where I wear them. Nice picks for the sale merch, I did buy a few things. Wondering if Dani did bite on the snakeskin Valentinas on promo. ;^)

    1. The color of this ink dip popover is TDF!
I also though we have similar figure too but I am sure being taller makes a big difference. And somebody said the Bermudas fit differently, I dislike the 7 to 10 inch inseam but I have slightly longer Bermudas from lucky that I love. I wore them with filigree jacket, I think they are 11" and tapered.

  6. Thanks AJC! I actually ordered in the popover in the rose colour to where with the burgundy skirt above (sheep that I am, I was totally enamoured with that colour combo and I do love burgundy!). I am glad for your sizing advice as in the end, I sized up one as well as I do not like a shirt like this to be tight!
