2012

As the 2012 is closing behind us, I thought of doing a post with my favorite 2012 outfits, but I realized that most of my choices would be from the last few months. Not because I started dressing better, but simply because I stepped out from the bathroom and the fitting rooms and the pictures got better (thank you A!) in consequence . Instead, as I scrolled back through my blog, I picked up my best purchases from this year and some tried and true favorites from the years past, in no particular order.

  • Solid pencil skirts in superfine cotton and double serge wool

  • DVF Dress


No surprises here, I have purchased things similar to what I have been wearing for years, mostly preppy, classic styles that I like to 'casualize' and some more striking prints that I tend to fall in love with. My color palette is also limited, consisting of neutrals with many blues and some reds. I like pencil skirts and jeans but I have worn more fuller skirts and capri pants this year. More than half of my favorites are still from J.Crew but I have been buying less and less from them, so I am expecting this to change.

It has been great to have this blog. It was so much fun to share with you and get your feedback. I want to thank you once again for reading and I hope you will stay for 2013!

    I love all of these choices and they look so good on you! No outdoor pics of me for awhile - the snow is way up past my knees!

    I am going to do the Brora sale later this week and try my first purchase! Am so excited as all of my j crew is so pilled!

    I love the pencil skirts of course, although the double-serge are my workhorses, the Porcelain Paisley is quite special and unique. Whenever I wear it I remember how you gave us the sneak peek. The skirt is one of my favorites of 2012 as well. I really like the Anthropologie jeans on you. What brand are they? I've been wearing two pairs of Acne jeans lately but they are both rather light and I'd like a new dark pair.

    Some of my 2012 favorites from J.Crew would be the stretch suede pencil skirt, snakeskin Valentinas and the Altuzarra Manon skirt. My shopping there has dropped off a cliff recently. I wonder what is in store for 2013.

    I've enjoyed the great styling ideas on your blog this year! Of yours, I love that Gallerista skirt so much, the Porcelain Paisley skirt, the chambray polka dot shirt, and the GAP Boyfriend cords (I got these in the tan color and I see why you love them!). That DVF dress is great on you too!

    My favorites have been mostly basics. In 2012, I tried J. Crew's tissue turtlenecks and I love them. I love my long sleeved tissue tees. I love my graphic tees from J. Crew Factory (bulldog, swiss elk, beaded deer, frenchy blue one with the heart outlined in white). I really love my Stadium Cloth Boulevard Trench in charcoal gray. My black wool Factory skimmers have been a go-to. The chambray polka dot top.

    What a fun post! I think my best purchases this year were items I bought from Brora and the handbag I brought back from Paris.
    It's a great idea to do a run-through, especially to avoid making mistakes this year!

    Happy New Year! I looove the first two outfits, that Academy blazer is really great. My best purchase this year in terms of love that translated into actual wear is probably that striped Collection self-tie top that I tried when we were together. But I yhink the two Theory blazers will also be workhorses in my wardrobe in the long run.

    Great outfits and great picks. You look especially fantastic in the Anthro jeans. One of my favorites is also the chambray polka dot shirt.

    My faves are your Anthro jeans, the chambray polka dot outfit (love the pop of color shoes) and the electric plaid. Although I have yet to wear mine, it's one of my favorite prints.
