Mind the GAP

This is a quick post to rave about GAP essential tees.

I have always been a fan of J.Crew perfect-fit tees and I own variety of them: long sleeve, short sleeve, tank, crewneck, v-neck, ballet neck, neutrals and variety of colors. But they can be rather expensive for what they are and some colors never make it to deep sale.

If  you need a specific shade that J.Crew does so well, you may want to buy it from them. But if you need black, white, navy, brown or gray, you may want to check out the GAP version. They are cheap, the cotton is nice and substantial and the fit is great.

The fit is very similar to J.Crew. I took size Small which I also take in J.Crew. It is pretty close fit but it is not clingy. I like the weight of the cotton and the neckline of the crewneck. I also tried the v-necks and short sleeve scoopnecks. I should credit Ema who featured the white scoopneck in this post and prompted me to check them out.

The white is a little bit see through but acceptable. I think it is less treansparent than J.Crew version in fact.

I washed them and they kept their shape. They shrunk a little bit in length but not too much.

They are pretty long in regular but they also sell them in tall. You can apply one of the 30% dicount codes that GAP seem to have regularly available and they also have free shipping with $50 purchase. This is $50 before the discount so it is really easy to meet. I paid about $10 each for mine and I am very happy with them.

That's all folks!

Have you tried GAP essential t-shirts?

Please share, it would be no fun without you!!!

  1. I've worn white Gap t shirts for yonks, great jeans up there, I might have to rethink jeans - that will mean trying 80 pairs till I find one pair that don't make my legs look all of two inches.

  2. I agree, Gap makes a great tee. I have tons and when they get a little ratty looking, I wear them to sleep in. Sometimes my local store has a special and the tees are only $5! That's when I stock up.

    1. Strangely, I don't think I bought tees from them even if I love them for my daughter. But now I know!

  4. Gap has always been my go-to for tees, even over J.Crew. Never had problems with holey tees at Gap, and they last for years. Also, if a person has no waist and no butt like me, their Long & Lean jeans are the best bootcut jean for the money, hands down. The vanity sizing is kind of ridiculous, but I think they're getting better about it.

    1. I never shopped at gap because long time ago my husband worked there and hated them, he convinced me everything was rubbish there.., maybe it is but probably no more than other retailers.

    1. Thank you Janet! I was actually wearing this outfit on the same day when you posted very similar one with black tee and jeans. Sometimes simplest things are the best, really.

  6. I'm glad you decided to get the crewnecks, ajc. They look really good on you! I own the GAP crewneck tees in all of the basic colors in both the short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions, and love them. I find myself wearing them several days of the week now. Definitely a fantastic buy with the extra discount, too. :)

  7. Thanks for the review. I've always liked JC's perfect fit tees and it's nice to know there is a cheaper alternative. It would be great if GAP offered them in more colors. It's JC's colors that always get me to buy.

    1. Definitely, the colors are what makes JCrew stand out. But I have been drawn more to neutrals recently and those tees fitted the bill.

    1. Those shoes are very comfortable. Some of the Fluevogs are too funky for me but these are great. I believe xoxo has them in blue as well.
