Lounging in Saturday pants and Duo Colorblock top

How was your weekend? My was pretty lazy and relaxing, just the way I like it. I seriously needed it, after working the whole last weekend and a very busy week last week. After watching the soccer game where my daughter scored two goals (way to go A!), I took this future Alex Morgan to the the street fair in our town. Yes, I am that soccer mom, I yell a lot (and loudly) from sidelines. We had lots of fun. We brought Richard the Penguin back with us, isn't he cute?

Richard and I had matching outfits, although it wasn't really planned. His beak provides a nice pop of orange, don't you think?

As you can see, I am in my casual mode here. You usually see my work outfits, but this is how I like to dress on weekends. I am wearing my J.Crew Saturday pants (review here) and Anthropologie Duo Colorblock top (review here). My messenger bag and trusty necklace are from Banana Republic and their cost per wear must be down to pennies by now. So is the case with my black patent Annie Klein loafers that are in serious need of replacement. It is funny that with all the shoes that I own these are close to developing holes in the soles. But as much as I love to wear them, black loafers are not exciting to shop for, so I've been putting it off. Do you ever do that with some basics you need?

Poor Richard lost his right arm somehow. I swear I didn't to anything to him, he just popped out of the sudden. I think it was the sun... My daughter was not satisfied with this explanation.

I have to say, I was very happy with both pieces and I liked how this outfit was super comfortable without looking sloppy.

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Did you have a good weekend?
What do you choose to wear when comfort and ease are your priority?
Do you postpone shopping for basics or do you take care of them first?

Please share it would be no fun without you!!!

  1. Great comfortable outfit, the shoes & accessories make it look pulled together & not too casual. Poor Richard, but still a style leader with his pop of orange even without the one arm. I went with cordoroys, wool socks and wellies & a flannel shirt with sweater and the new Barbour coat out in the rain this weekend but could have used an extra layer and I hate to say it but I wanted a hat and gloves too. This was still a good outfit when I went indoors, with the cords & flannel shirt.

I have been thinking of loafers but putting it off. They'd be a good basic for me but I only want them if I love them and you are right that it's not something fun to shop for.

    1. Cate, hat and gloves? Where are you? I am still trying not to wear a coat. I love fall buti want Otto stay over 60 for another month. I also haven't bought a new loafers because I did not find a pair I love but I afraid I will never love a pair of black loafers, however useful they are.

  2. I like those black saturday pants - they look so comfy and practical! I have the heather grey - they started to rip the second time I wore them along the seam. Ah J Crew quality - gotta love it!

Poor Richard! And yay for A!

  3. hehe that little critter is too cute! I've always wanted to try and make a balloon animal :P

I think jeggings and a comfy sweater are the best comfy outfit for the weekend. Throw in a pair of flats and you're good to go!

    1. They look so easy when they make them but I once looked at the book how to make them and it seemed harder than I hoped for. Jeggings and long comfy sweater with boots sound likes kind of weekend outfit!

  4. Of course I am loving Richard, I am crazy about ballon animals. It's great to see you casual, and I'm with you on buying basics, I have two things that I need to buy but because they aren't exciting I keep putting them off, in case I want to throw my money at something more exciting, it's so immature of me.

    1. Richard is so stylish, I was happy when he was an animal of choice, much better than a purple flower head contraption that was also popular. Yes, why we love to spend insane amount if money on something silly frilly rather than on sensible basics that we need and can use a lot?

  8. I think I could never pull off tbe Saturday pants (they really look like pahama pants on me), they look really great on you! I am like that with basics, especially tanks but what I really hate is shopping for underwear. I usually have two bras on rotation and I wear them until they literally fall apart because I so hate spending money on them. At least now I found my panties fix, the VS lacey thongs, and I just go there and buy a bunch whenever I need to replace them. I hope they never discontinue them!

    1. Oh I hate buying underwear too, I have a full drawer though because few years ago my husband really complain that I buy all those clothes but nothing "for him". I basically buy the same bras and panties at VS, just in different colors, I must have 15 pairs of dream angels bras and boy shorts. They cost a fortune too, don't they?

  9. Guess we're all in the same shopping boat, where novelty tends to grab the helm. Love the "cost per wear is down to pennies by now",
you know you've scored a dead hit in all categories when that happens! Looks like a wonderful, stylish Saturday!
