Anchors, Poppies and Indecent Exposure

If you cannot get enough of anchors, this is your year at J.Crew!

Anchor cardigan

Size Medium
This cardigan is cute but I am totally saturated in the anchor department, which is quite a feat, considering that I did not buy any item in the anchor print. Just looking at different renditions J.Crew has been churning up this season is enough for me. I decided that navy/white stripes is as nautical as I am able to go without feeling silly.

Fits TTS
The fit of this cardigan is similar to Jenna/Jackie cardigan, I take my bigger sweater size in them and I took it here as well. It is 100% cotton, so with recent J.Crew quality, I will be worrying that it will fade, stretch out, develop holes or all of the above.

Sorry, I am trying to summon a little more enthusiasm here, but the spark is not coming.

$88, 100% cotton

Poppy print scarf

Pretty print
This is better. I like the print on this scarf, it is fun and playful and the scarf is soft and does not create bulk around your neck. I don't wear scarf in the summer,  but I do like this scarf.

soft and easy for summer
$69.50, 70% Modal, 30% silk

Linen short sleeve sweater

Size Medium
This sweater looks really cute in Looks We Love paired with deck stripe skirt in blue and When I saw it in store, I liked the colorblock effect and short sleeves. But it is extremely sheer and if you don;t want to advertise your bra to all the willing and unwilling spectators (like I am doing in the picture above), you would have to wear a cami. No, thanks. Other than that it fits TTS.

You can also see the Soludo espadrilles on me, I reviewed them previously HERE. Too bad they are flimsy, because I thought they would be super cute to wear in the summer. If you are tempted, remember to be careful and treat them as disposables. If my feet are looking funny in the pictures, it is because I am wearing to left shoes that I grabbed accidentally from the basket.

That's all folks!

What do you think?
Do you like anchors and have you bought any this year?
Do you wear scarfs in the summer?
Do you mind wearing camis under too sheer to wear alone sweaters?

Please share, it would be no fun without you !!!

  1. No anchors for me. I agree w/you. I like the stripes and that's about all I can do. JC is losing me w/the current designs. They're starting to feel a little kitschy and that's something coming from someone who like kitsch.

    1. When I was little I had this sailor shirt that I loved and wore it until it disintegrated, it was white with navy sailor collar and tie in front and little anchor in the bottom corner, but that was looong time ago...

  4. I agree about the anchors... too much nautical that's in your face. However, I absolutely LOVE the striped skirt, that says, Summer, sailing, and nautical in a much more refined way. Thanks for posting this. I love your blog!

    1. Buffy, exactly. It is no longer tongue in cheek, it starts to look serious and this is scary... That skirt is great, I don't need another pencil skirt but may change my mind once it goes on sale..

  7. I am anchored out too and as you I don't own a single anchor item (but I own an old tank with a sequined anchor that I was about to throw away when anchormania came back. I decided to keep it so if I feel like I suddently need an anchor in my life I won't buy a new one, hopefully)

  8. LOL @ Ema: "if I feel like I suddenly need an anchor in my life"!

ITA agree, enough with the anchors.

  9. The only anchor item I was interested in was the necklace with an anchor pendant which appears to be be in store only right now. I thought this would be a good way to do a little anchor without going overboard (har har). I had them hold it for me (they were "flying out of the store") and went to buy it. It was SIXTY dollars! The chain wasn't anything special... the anchor itself was fine, but noting amazing. I can buy a trendy anchor pendant at F21 or Target for $5. I would expect the anchor to be crystal encrusted or something for $60. Thanks but no.

  10. I have navy blue flip-flops from J.Crew Factory that have an anchor on them. These are understated and I'll wear them a lot. I also bought the khaki chino shorts with the blue anchors, although I'm having some regrets now because anchors are everywhere now (I bought these back in the beginning of Anchor Season before I knew anchors would be everywhere - I don't usually like an obvious trend).

Ironically, I saw a real boat anchor over the weekend and it wasn't even shaped like a J.Crew anchor lol.
