Tipped Silk Pocket Tank Review

When in doubt, you can't go wrong with black and white. Or can you?

I never noticed the Tipped Silk Pocket Tank until it was featured by the lovely ABC in one of her red, white and blue sets in this post.

Even though I think it is overpriced, I decided to order it to try it on.

Jeans by JBrand, rest J.Crew

I ordered my regular size 6 and it fits well, so I'd say it fits TTS.

It is definitely very sheer, at least in white and you would need a cami to wear under it.

The cut is boxy but I think less so than in the silk pocket tee like the Mai Tai I tried here. I like the boxy shape as it gives it a relaxed, easy vibe.

I like the tipped detail, it looks great in the back. It will also work nicely under a blazer to wear to the office.

I don't have a picture but the armholes are slightly big, but not too bad. I like the neckline and that it is not too high, like some of JC crewneck tops.

Overall, it is a nice top but the sheerness may be a deal breaker, if you don't like the idea of wearing a cami under cami.  It is priced too high at full price imo and I am not sure if it is worth it with the 40%.  I am glad I ordered it at full price because I am not even tempted. Maybe once it goes on sale, plus percentage off?

That's all folks!

What do you think of this tank? What would you consider fair price for it?

Please share, it would be no fun without you!!!

  1. AJC- Your hair looks so pretty. I like the tank...but... I am always concerned about black and white silk together because they never seem to clean well- whether washed or dry cleaned. I also refuse to buy a tank that needs a camisole, particularly because I think that then there are too many straps showing. It does look awesome on you, but I think you would be better off buying a tank that is lined. I thought about you yesterday when I peeked in the GSP. So many new fall items. Maybe I' ll meet up with you there one day!

    1. Hi KnitYarns, I never even thought about the cleaning, good point! I agree about too many straps, I don't like it neither and whats the point of tank under tank anyway?

    1. Thanks Anthro Blogger, I got a haircut and a blow-out that day, that's why.

  3. I love the black tipping on the keyhole opening in back, and it looks nice overall, but the sheerness would be a deal breaker for me. I don't like to fuss with my clothes and finding a layer to wear under qualifies as fussing for me. Not worth it at any price for me. I bought that pretty chiffon dot top last fall/winter and ultimately returned it because I couldn't find the right cami for underneath it. Too much fuss! $98 for this top wouldn't bother me if the fabric were not sheer.

    1. I agree about the fussy factor, it is a pain to have to wear something underneath.

  4. I really like this on you and the back view is gorgeous! Not worth full price but you should definitely grab this one when it gets to sale price. Love it!

    1. Even with the sheerness, I may get it if the price drops low enough. Providing of course that I don't loose interest by then, it happens often but that's a good test :)

  5. I really like this on you too. The sheerness got me thinking of the brown colorway in this top, but now that I see the white/black on you, I love it! Will definitely wait for a sale to grab one too. Thanks for the review and linky love. :)

    1. It is probably less sheer in brown but I agree, not as cute. We will see what price it will drop to by the end of summer.

  7. The top looks great on you, but I think the sheerness would be a big deal breaker for me. I live in Texas and the thought of having to wear a cami with a top makes me go "ugh!" Thanks though for your review.

    1. Thanks Shanda, I agree even just silk is not that great in the heat plus the need to wear something underneath would add to the discomfort. I would actually think of this top to wear in cooler weather under a blazer.
