Sun Salutations

I have been doing yoga for the last 2 months.

Breathe
This is unusual for me, because although I am relatively fit person, I never in the past had patience for yoga.  I was also never flexible or balanced. When I said 'balanced', I referred to the physical sense of balance, but now when I think about it, maybe it has something to do with emotional/psychological balance as well.

My yoga practice started after I went on Cornerstone retreat in the end of February, where it was part of the program.  There are many reason why yoga have resonated with me at this point of my life, like looking for inner peace and balance, but one of them was that we have a wonderful instructor.  Every session is a variation on a topic and she usually tells a little story in the beginning connecting practice of yoga with something happening in our life and then she keeps coming back to it as she guides us through different poses for hour and a half.  In the past, I was always skeptical when somebody said something to the effect that 'doing twists helps us with twists in our daily life', but somehow it makes perfect sense now.  I seriously think I am going through mid-life crisis...

The Trailhead Tee is current, from Athleta and my pants are from Lululemon (old).  Well, old habits die hard and nothing puts me in the mood of doing something like having some cute outfits to do it in :)

The tee is size small and I love the color and fit.

As for the pants, I no longer see them at Lululemon, which is a shame, I hope they will bring them back. I know you are not supposed to wear your yoga pants outside of yoga practice but I have to admit of being guilty of staying in them after the practice on some days, they are just so comfy. One funny thing about Lululemon pants is that they have their logo placed in some weird places and people always tell me I have something under my left knee...

The sheering in front of the tee is great for camouflaging some imperfections but the sheering in the back makes the tee, imo.

On another note, I am so happy about the sunshine and warmer weather, I just love this time of the year! Every week I buy myself a bunch of flowers and this week I paid tribute to one of my favorite painters:

Flowers of the week :D

That's all folks!

Do you do yoga?

Have you bought anything from Athleta or Lululemon?

Do you buy flowers for yourself?

  3. You look so happy -- it suits you! :)

Until a couple of years ago, I never got yoga either -- I always felt that if I am going to allocate an hour to exercise, I need to sweat (and sweat a LOT) or it's not worth it. But, I think I am going through a mid life something or other too, because I now find that it helps both mentally, to be able to clear my head, and physically --I find that my waist definitely gets blubby so much faster post-40 (HUGE bummer!) and even without sweating, I do think yoga does some core toning. I have to admit, however, that I still find meditation to be very difficult -- I cheat and do it on my daily runs instead of the recommended being still: I match my breathing to my steps and pretend that that counts for "focusing on breathing"....!

Take care; it's wonderful to read you again!
    Audrey.

    1. Thank you Audrey! Funny how we change, if somebody told me few years ago I would try meditation I would think they just don;t know me but I guess it was I who did not know myself.
I still cannot do the breathing right, I really tend to breathe through my mouth and feel like I am going to suffocate when I try to only use my nose.

  5. That is an excellent yoga shirt and the colour is so pretty on you. I still don't do yoga but I have been doing Classical Stretch for years and two months ago I added pilates to my routine. I really like it, I have to focus and concentrate and the pilates studio is really beautiful. I'm definitely stronger and sleeping better too.
I'm so happy that you've found this practice, you are clearly enjoying it because you look really happy!

  6. ajc i'm so glad you are back posting. you look quite fit and quite calm too.

i took my first yoga class at 17 and was hooked. i've been chasing that high ever since. and i'm not even kidding about that. :)

yoga has changed so much through the years that i've practiced it. now i go to a studio that is all about the workout part. i sweat so much my clothes should be burned after every class! but my instructor does keep us focused on the breath and that is the most important thing. i just need this kind of yoga right now b/c i swear the older i get the harder it is to keep fit. it's like a full time job now.

love your outfit but mostly love you being back. xo

  7. You are just beaming, clearly yoga is a real benefit. You look great in that purple tee, of course the smile helps. No yoga for me, I definitely do not have the patience for it at this stage of my life.

    1. I am surprised at my own patience but once I wanted to do it, I found it surprisingly easy and satisfying, who'd knew...

  8. You look so cute in the first photo! It is wonderful that you've discovered exercise that works s owell for you. Me, I HATE yoga with a passion.. it hurts (not in a good way like running!), I don't feel like it's doing anything, and my mind races the whole time. Perhaps when I am older and have learned a little more patience...

I buy flowers every week this time of year, too! It's such a nice touch and makes us smile, so why not spend that few bucks? (Better than spending on a JC tee that will be holey after one wash!)

    1. haha, I totally get that you can hate it, I was there...

Funny when the flowers may last longer than a tee. Well, it is not really funny, but true...

  10. Wow! You have a fabulous figure and are a great advert for whatever activity you're doing. I did yoga for five years at our house, then never did it again, I haven't got the patience to do "a practise" by myself. Having said that, yoga people have hands down the most awesome bodies.

    1. oh, I do go to class, I have trouble following the poses otherwise. My instructor is in her fifties and her body is indeed awesome and it bends! I wish mine would do it...
