Lounging in Saturday pants and Duo Colorblock top

How was your weekend? My was pretty lazy and relaxing, just the way I like it. I seriously needed it, after working the whole last weekend and a very busy week last week. After watching the soccer game where my daughter scored two goals (way to go A!), I took this future Alex Morgan to the the street fair in our town. Yes, I am that soccer mom, I yell a lot (and loudly) from sidelines. We had lots of fun. We brought Richard the Penguin back with us, isn't he cute?

Richard and I had matching outfits, although it wasn't really planned. His beak provides a nice pop of orange, don't you think?

As you can see, I am in my casual mode here. You usually see my work outfits, but this is how I like to dress on weekends. I am wearing my J.Crew Saturday pants (review here) and Anthropologie Duo Colorblock top (review here). My messenger bag and trusty necklace are from Banana Republic and their cost per wear must be down to pennies by now. So is the case with my black patent Annie Klein loafers that are in serious need of replacement. It is funny that with all the shoes that I own these are close to developing holes in the soles. But as much as I love to wear them, black loafers are not exciting to shop for, so I've been putting it off. Do you ever do that with some basics you need?

Poor Richard lost his right arm somehow. I swear I didn't to anything to him, he just popped out of the sudden. I think it was the sun... My daughter was not satisfied with this explanation.

I have to say, I was very happy with both pieces and I liked how this outfit was super comfortable without looking sloppy.

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Black Watch, Aegean Plaid and Saturday Sweats

Perfect shirt in Black Watch

Do you like Black Watch plaid?

Well, it seems like J.Crew's is a loose interpretation of the Campbell tartan. I think the slim trench coat is more like it.  Or maybe there are different variations?

Size 6
In general, I am not a big fan of dark colored plaid but it sure is pretty, Black Watch or not.

Pattern is matched
It fits TTS to small, depending on your chest size. It fitted me well in my regular size 6 but it gaped in chest. I am 34D;  if you are C cup or smaller, it should be a good fit. I often have the gaping issue, especially that I also have narrow shoulders, so I cannot size up too much. But J.Crew still fits me better than most other brands.

It does gap
Size 8 fixed the gaping issue, but it did not fit as nicely everywhere else and it was just blah.

Size 8
Overall, I really liked the shirt and I thought it would be a nice, casual look. I don't have anything similar, but I also don't remember thinking "Gee, I really wish I had a plaid shirt to wear today."

It is 99% cotton, 1% spandex.

Size 6
This shirt fitted me in my regular size, no gaping here. The 6 fitted about the same like 8 in Black Watch shirt.

Pattern Matched!
I like it but I don;t need another button down (even if I wear them all the time, I already have a closet full of them).  I would consider it on deep sale, the fabric was very nice (99% cotton, 1% spandex), it is soft and comfortable and the blues are very pretty.

No gaping

I also spotted the sweatshirt. It was briefly featured on J.Crew website under weekend section.

Size Medium
I tried a bigger of my two sizes because I like my sweatshirts loose and slouchy. It is slouchy enough but the fit is boxy. To me, this sweatshirt is couple inches too short and too wide in the sleeves. It looks OK when you roll up the sleeves but I want to be able to unroll the sleeves if I want.

I wish it was longer
It feels nice and soft and I liked the stripes (I know, again). But $72.50 is about twice what I would be willing to pay for it, even if it was longer.

$72.50?? 100% Cotton

Pants size Small
Saturday pant is not new but I never tried it before.

I have to say I really liked them. They are very comfortable and they fit me well in size small. They feel like sweats but fit more like leggings. They are great for lounging and under longer tops or tunics. The are long enough on me. I am 5'6 and have 33" inseam. If you are taller, they will probably be too short, at least in Small.

What do you think?

Do you wear plaid button downs?  Do you like the ones I reviewed?

Do you own Saturday pants? How do you like the sweatshirt?
